Ritchie Charlton is a fourth-generation tailor with over forty years of experience working on Savile Row and in the wider fashion industry.

He began his career on Savile Row at Norton & Sons moving subsequently to Maurice Sedwell, Hartnell and Hardy Amies, gaining experience with some of the most significant names in British tailoring before being appointed Director at Kilgour.

Ritchie’s cut and technical expertise were hugely influential on Kilgour’s phenomenally successful ready-to-wear collections.  He simultaneously built an enviable book of clients; ranging from creatives, opinion makers, entrepreneurs, actors and musicians to politicians, and financiers, rapidly earning Kilgour the reputation of being the most fashionable tailor in the West End.

A decade later, as Managing Director, Ritchie presided over the rebranding of Hayward on Mount Street in Mayfair.

In 2012, Ritchie was appointed Head of Tailoring at Alexander McQueen where he launched the Bespoke Department and continued to tailor suits for celebrity clients and royalty.  Ritchie frequently collaborated with the creative teams, cutting and making garments for both menswear and womenswear runway shows.

As well as cutting for ready-to-wear and catwalk collections at Hartnell, Hayward, Kilgour and Alexander McQueen, Ritchie has worked as a consultant for brands including Reiss, Aquascutum, Wales Bonner, Wolsey, Jigsaw, Alexa Chung, Nicole Farhi, and Roland Mouret.
